The Complete Training Method: A Smarter Way to Build Strength for Life

Why most workouts leave gaps — and how we fix them.

Here’s the deal: most workouts out there are good at one thing.

They’ll make you sweat.

They’ll burn some calories.

They might even make you sore in muscles you didn’t know you had.

But here’s the catch… they often leave big gaps in your fitness.

At Percheron, we believe your training should do more than make you tired. It should make you capable. Stronger. Faster. More mobile. Ready for whatever life — or your kids, or your weekend hobbies — throw at you.

We call it the Complete Training Method.

And it’s designed to help you feel good, move well, and perform at your best… for life.

So what is the Complete Training Method?

It’s pretty simple. We train three pillars of fitness that work together like this:

ree

1️⃣ Strength

This isn’t just about lifting heavy. Strength is your foundation. It helps you:

  • Pick up heavy things without pain (or fear)

  • Protect your joints and spine

  • Build lean muscle that keeps you healthy as you age

  • Perform better in sport, work, and everyday life

We train strength through functional movements — like squats, presses, pulls, and carries — progressively and safely.

2️⃣ Conditioning

Cardio isn’t just for runners. Conditioning builds your engine so you can:

  • Play hard without running out of gas

  • Recover faster between efforts

  • Improve heart health and metabolism

  • Handle whatever life throws at you without breaking down

We use a mix of long, steady efforts and short, intense intervals to train all energy systems — not just one.

3️⃣ Mobility

Mobility is often overlooked, but it’s the secret sauce. It means:

  • You can move freely without stiffness or

    pain

  • Joints and muscles work through their full range

  • You’re less likely to get injured, and more likely to feel good moving every day

We incorporate dynamic stretching, stability work, and movement control to make sure strength and conditioning don’t just add capacity — they add quality.

Why does “complete” matter?

Because life doesn’t care if you’re only good at one thing.

When all three are in balance, you’re not just “fit”… you’re prepared. For sports. For adventure. For the demands of real life.

You don’t want to be the strong guy who gets winded chasing his dog. Or the cardio queen who struggles to pick up her suitcase. Or the super-flexible yogi who can’t run across the parking lot.

Real fitness means having all the tools — not just one.

And that’s exactly what/why/how we coach at Percheron.

How does it work at Percheron?

We structure our training week to touch all three pillars. A typical week might include:

✅ Lifting heavy 3x/week

✅ Short, intense conditioning intervals 2-3x/week

✅ Long, slow cardio 1x/week

✅ Mobility work woven throughout

This isn’t about doing “more.” It’s about doing the right things in balance — so you get strong, build endurance, and move better without burning out.

What’s coming next?

Over the next few weeks, we’ll break down each piece of the Complete Training Method:

  • Why it matters

  • How we train it

  • And simple things you can try today

You don’t need another random workout.

You need a plan that builds strength, endurance, and freedom of movement… for the long haul.
