"New Year, New Me" Starts... Now.

The new year is just around the corner, and for many, it’s the time to set resolutions and start fresh. But here’s a question: why wait until January 1st to start working toward your fitness goals? 🤔 By planning ahead and setting your intentions now, you can step into 2025 with a clear focus and momentum already behind you.

Why Waiting Until January Doesn’t Work

Let’s face it: most people who wait until January to start their fitness journey don’t stick with it. The reason? They show up to the gym (cause that's what you're supposed to do) without a clear plan or realistic goals. Without a roadmap, it’s easy to get discouraged or overwhelmed. And that’s why gyms often see a spike in attendance in January, 📈 followed by a drop-off by February. 📉

The Advantage of Starting Now

By starting now, you give yourself a bit of a head start. You’re not waiting for the calendar to change; you’re taking control of your goals today. Plus, beginning in December helps you:

  • Build momentum: Establishing habits now means you’ll already have a routine when January comes. No need to panic when you start seeing everyone's "New Year, New Me" posts on social media.

  • Secure your spot: At Percheron, we keep our class sizes small so our coaches can provide the most personalized attention to all of our members. This means that classes will fill up quickly as new members join. You may consider securing your spot now, before the January rush comes along.

  • Build consistency during the holidays: Keeping up with your exercise routine can help you stay on track and feel great throughout the holiday season, and helps you avoid the guilt or dread that usually hits Dec 26-31st.

How to Set Goals for 2025

  1. Reflect on 2024: What did you accomplish? What could you improve? Use these insights to shape your goals.

  2. Make them SMART: Goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. For example, instead of saying, “I want to get fit,” try, “I want to run a 5K by April," or "I will workout 3 days every week," or "I won't skip a single long conditioning day." 😉 IYKYK.

  3. Break it down: Big goals can feel overwhelming. Break them into smaller milestones to track your progress. Knock down the first small domino and let the momentum handle the big monsterous one down at the end...

  4. Ask for help: Whether you’re new to fitness or looking to level up, having a coach or a supportive community makes a huge difference.
